Celebrating Change
Summer 2012

Dear Friends,

It was my husband who said over dinner once: "Change happens slowly, then all at once."

That one line just about sums up my life this year.

In late February, I was offered a book contract. Your Spacious Self (my five year-old "baby") is getting a world-class make-over!

What inspired me to say yes to my publisher had a lot to do with what I have observed since my book first came out: that people seem to be more overwhelmed than ever. There is no time to juggle it all, let alone clear the things and thoughts that cause us to feel so stressed in the first place! I was motivated to deliver a palpable experience of clarity and ease in one minute flat.

For three months I partnered with one of the best editors in the biz. He helped me integrate the depth and teachings of the original book with all new inspiring stories and clearing practices. The remake has produced an entirely different book that feels more like an Artist's Way approach to clearing - with Anne Lamott-like stories infused throughout to give the book a lighter feel and help us all come out of our cluttered closets, as it were.

Your Spacious Self is graduating to new heights of elegant simplicity, and as a proud "mom," I could not be more thrilled! Translations rights and audio rights have been sold already - so you can read it in Danish or Dutch, and listen to it on your way to work! The book comes out officially on November 1st from Hierophant Publishing, and can preordered through Amazon here.

What are some changes in your life that you'd like to celebrate? In what ways are you noticing changes that are right around the corner? If you could use a little inspiration and prompting, keep reading. There's more...

Wishing you a summer blooming with welcome changes and spacious possibilities.

Saying Goodbye...
Change means letting go - BIG time!

I knew the day would come - the day when I'd be asked by my publisher to stop production on my "baby" which I self published in 2007. What I didn't expect was the surge of unmitigated emotion that would come with pulling the plug.

My knees shook uncontrollably and I wept.

Until my husband (again so wisely) reminded me to think of the original as a chrysalis that has just turned into a gorgeous butterfly. "Nothing has been lost," he said. "Your Spacious Self is not dead - it's emerged."

It was a good run, and I will always be grateful to everyone who helped it take off (to spawn a clearing movement): to my brother-in-law, George Vogt for designing the beautiful cover; to all my readers, students, and clients who bought it, loved it, and told their friends to read it. Thank you, all!

If you would like an autographed copy of the "chrysalis edition" - to read the 60 percent material (stories, supporting science, and meditations) that is not included in the new, upcoming edition - I have a limited number of copies available for purchase on a first come first serve basis.

A Simple Clearing Practice

"Once you make a decision,
the universe conspires to make it happen."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

On a piece of paper or your journal take a few minutes to design a business card logo and tagline that expresses how you wish to be identified and reflects an aspiring "new you."

Don't think too hard. Just allow your highest and best self to inform you.

Have fun with this! Notice how it feels before, during, and afterwards. Notice if, and how, it energizes you. Record any surprises that come out of this simple practice.

Questions for Living
Interview

"Were there questions that attracted you to studying about clutter and clearing spaces?"

That was one of the questions I was asked recently by Byron Woodman, the founder of Questions For Living - a online resource that explores how the quality of our questions inform and shape the quality of our lives.

It turns out that Byron not only lives in my hometown of Concord, MA, but he lived in MY house when he was four years old! How is that for divine serendipity? I knew right then that I needed to do this interview - which ended up revealing stories and reflections that I didn't even know I had inside me!

You can read it here... (plus check out other inspirational interviews Byron has done over the years with visionaries and thought-leaders like Dan Millman, Judith Orloff, and many others)
